this maketh me laugh

These pictures make me laugh so hard! We have spent multiple hours taking random pictures and then looking at them and then laughing our heads off...I have a couple more that I couldn't get to upload that are too funny so I will try to add them later, but here is a taste of what makes us smile!

I've always wondered how people loose their sense of what's in style or not. Did they always have problems with fashion? Were they once in the know? Do they just not care? Or did their fashion sense somehow slowly slip away as the years went by, until one day they looked in the mirror only to see a "shlumpadinka" (as Oprah would say) staring back. http://www.oprah.com/beauty/fashion/slide/20080220/fashion_20080220_101.jhtml
I had a mini shlumpadinka moment today that really made me laugh and love my husband even more!!

My in-laws gave me a gift card to Urban Outfitters for my birthday and I couldn't wait to use it! This after noon Dave and I drove through a down poor of hail to the down town Urban Outfitters in Portland. To save time and find the things I wanted more quickly I asked Dave to help me pick some stuff to try on. He started on one side of the store and I started on the other. We met up and with his hard work, I had a bunch to try on.

Dave sat in the dressing area while I modeled each item for him. Item one...check, he liked it. Item two...check, he liked it. Item three...check, he loved it! This went on and on until I had tried on everything. 100% Satisfaction from me and Dave! My heart sunk knowing that I only had enough with my gift card to pick one or two things. I took all my items out of the dressing room and asked Dave which were his favorites. He looked at me with his sweet face and without hesitation he lovingly said.. "All of them...Get them all". I looked at him confused as I had tried on many items not expecting to get even half of them. "Get them all he said again this time hesitating before he spoke the next few words...it will be good for your wardrobe...you could use some new clothes..... new styles, some of your stuff is too plain, a little boring, this will help." Now maybe in other circumstances this would have made me frown a tiny bit ...but not this time... instead I was absolutely elated thinking about the arm full of shirts that would now be hanging in my closet and permanently modeled by me! I asked if he was sure and trust me, he was sure as ever!! YAY!!! As we were at the register checking out, I stopped and thought about what had just happened, and that is when I had my first "Shlumpadinka" moment. It hit me....my husband is incredibly more fashionable that me. It looks like I'm starting to loosing it...or did I ever have it??! In less time than me, he was able to pick out several very cute outfits, all in the right sizes, trendy styles, cute fits, cute colors, and on top of that, these items truly will spice up my wardrobe. As I thought about his comments in the dressing room, I did a mental scan through my closet.... I was in agreeance with my little honey husband... my wardrobe has become a bit drab. On the drive home I asked him if in the future he would help me put together some outfits to help me be more creative and exciting with my current wardrobe....and being the sweetheart that he is, he agreed!!!

So I guess I have an answer to my question....its easy to loose your sense of what is fashionable or not pretty dang easy..... a comfy sweatshirt....a boring shade shirt.....the same old work clothes.... my favorite gym t-shirt.....or my lovely g's..... Luckily, I have a husband who loves me fashionable or not. And now I know he is always there to lend a helping hand! Oh how I love him! I love love love him! Thanks to Dave.....my fashion is currently improving... I hope for his sake I can keep it up!!! he he ha ha!.....No more "Shlumpadinka" moments for me! ha ha ha! I LOVE YOU HUSBAND!!

I love love love you!

St. PEaster's Day

St. Patty's and Easter in one! (St. PEasters) What a fun filled weekend! Tuesday night Dave and I headed to Utah for the annual St. Patrick’s day party. Since Easter was early this year, my mom took advantage of the weekend and was able to have two parties in one weekend...(sponsored by dad of course!) Courtney and her family came in from Vegas, Trev and Erin stayed at my parents too....so the entire family was home! The house was chuck full and it was great! We got to eat at our (when I say our I am speaking of Me, Jac, Erin, and Courts) favorite restaurant...TONYS! mmmm....Rigatoni with an extra meat ball, warm bread, mouth watering salad...topped off with spumoni ice cream...there is nothing better!
We spent a lot of time hanging out, talking, eating, watching movies...and just fun stuff. Friday night was the St. Patrick’s day party.....My mom set it up so when you first walk in the door Irish music is playing and I'm talking about the kind that makes you want to scream because its so annoying...once you realize that its not going to stop playing...you are then forced to kiss "the blarney stone". After the kissing session...we had a green dinner followed by the classic "Darbio Gill and the Little People" ... and then the coin toss! This year Dave and I did pretty good and ended up with $32.00! For those of you not familiar with the coin toss, let me explain. We (all the adult kids) gather in a circle on our knees with our hands behind our back. My dad stands on the couch next to us with $200 in gold coins. He counts to three and then drops the coins into the middle of the circle, we then dive into the middle and fight to get as many as we can! It is so much fun and hilarious to watch! Its my favorite part of the party! We ended the night with "August Rush", (which I loved).
Saturday was the Easter Egg hunt for the "big kids" and the little ones! My dad hid eggs throughout the entire back yard for the adults to find. Instead of our eggs being filled with candy..they were filled with money and prizes! Dave and I did ok...but he had a disadvantage since this was his first Easter and the rest of us are familiar with my dads hiding spots. The kids egg hunt took place inside and was so incredibly cute to watch! After a wonderful brunch we all went to the Temple as a family. It was really wonderful. It was the first time that we were all there together. Being in the celestial room with my family was a wonderful feeling! I am so glad we got to do that together! We finished the day by eating at Union Grill....MY FAVORITE! The trip was a blast! It was so fun to see everyone and be able to spend so much time to be together! Thanks family! Thanks mom and dad....we had so much fun!!....until next time............

The San Francisco Treat!

I can't believe its almost April! March has flown by! We have had an exciting vacation filled month! The second weekend in March we went to San Francisco with my mom and dad to run our first race! It was 12k (7.5 miles). We had a blast!

We ran across the golden gate bridge and right along the coast, it was wonderful. My knees started to hurt at mile five but I pushed though it and ran the entire way! I was pretty proud of myself! I finished in 1 hour and 18 minutes and Dave finished in 1 hour and 5 minutes! It was such a thrill, I think we will do it again next year for sure! In addition to the race, we went to a bunch of yummy restaurants, shopped, rode the trolleys, went on a harbor tour, walked, walked and walked some more! We had an amazing weekend!

Thanks for the invite mom and dad!

The Devil

Just when you think life couldn't get any better...you get confirmation that you share 8 hours a day with the devil him/herself. Needless to say, I work with the most awful woman I have ever met. I did not know it existed! WOW! It is really draining. I really try each day to kill her with kindness...but if this goes on much longer,I might be trying to kill her with kindess one day and accidently end up just killing her. :) I consider my headphones to be heavenly fathers way of protecting me from Evil each day! ahhhhhhhhhhhwowooooahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ahhhhhhhh ahhh woooooooooowy...I guess I just needed to vent... ok got it out!

12K Across the Bay

Dave and I have been training our hopefully skinner butts off to get ready for a 12K run in San Francisco this weekend! We are so pumped! Neither one of us has done anything like this and we are really excited! We have been waking up at 4:30 to train for an hour and then doing another hour after work! It has been tough, but also really great! On Saturday I naturally woke up at 6:30am!! I went back to sleep of course but STILL...that has never happned to me in my life...it used to be 11:00am before I would even realize I had fallen asleep from the night before! Anyhow, we are really enjoying training together and are super excited for the race! Does anyone have any suggestions for running a small race like this??? Let me know!
